Busy period…

August 8, 2008 – 2:18 am | No Comments »

Dear friends, sorry for disappearing for such a long time… have been really busy with work recently… and it’ll be the same until end of September…

Nothing much to update recently. The only thing worth mentioning is that I went to Greenwood Bistro three times for the past two weeks. The hot seafood platter there is really fantastic. For more details about the food there you may want to visit my buddy, huili’s blog (you can find the link at the right panel). For those who love oysters, you can try the oyster night on tuesday, $1 each, and it’s fresh =) My record is 16 hehehe

Ok, signing off now, will be back again soon.

P.S.: Sometimes you know that by doing certain thing you’ll definitely screw things up… but at times, you just want to do it cosh subconsciously you already want to screw things up hiakzzz

Red Cliff

July 15, 2008 – 12:50 am | No Comments »

Disappointing… watched the show over weekend when I was bored and it made me felt worse… sigh…

Red Cliff

red_cliff2.jpg

Plot: 5/10
Cast: 2/10
Graphics: 4/10
Action: 2/10

Summary: As a fan of the Three Kingdoms, I really felt that the show did not bring out the essence of the real story and there was a serious misfit in the casts and the roles… I’d never thought the Guan Yu looked so thin and small sized… Zhao Yun to have a bigger build than Guan Yu… a cartoon-like character (Lin Zhiling) to be Zhou Yu’s wife… Liu Bei and Sun Quan to be so wimpy… Zhuge Liang to be stressed during wartimes and to even act cute at some parts… Zhou Yu to be short… and all of that would explain why I gave a 2 for casts even though they are really greact actors/actoresses, they just didn’t fit into the roles…

As for the plot, I gave a passing grade because it followed the real story in general. But I really disliked the battle part… it was super unreal… I could not imagine, in a real battle, cavalries would run into a maze without running down the shields in the first place… and volunteerarily get trapped in the formation especially on flat terrains… the formation used in the show would only work on uneven grounds… sigh…

There was another part of the show which I was really disappointed. The scene where Zhuge Liang tried to convince Sun Quan to fight against Cao Cao was supposed to be very intellectual with a lot of verbal sparring between Zhuge Liang and the advisors of Sun Quan… but the show totally totally didn’t have that kind of setting… it was just “normal” conversations between the few actors… sigh…

ALSO, I disliked the random jokes in the show… I wasn’t sure whether they were added intentionally or un-intentionally… all along, I had the impression that it would be a serious war show but it turned out otherwise =(

Sorry for the long list of criticisms… maybe I had too high expectations for the show =P In any case, I’ll still watch part II, can’t bear to miss the ending after watch part I =D

WANTED

July 3, 2008 – 11:35 pm | No Comments »

Superb movie!!! Was recommended by a lot of people and I decided to watch it today.

Wanted

wantedposternycc.jpg

Plot: 9.5/10
Cast: 8/10
Graphics: 8/10
Action: 10/10

Summary: Simply like this show. Action movie but with meaning, Angelina Jolie, nice plot, blah blah blah Fantastic! Story about assassinators who act on fate interpreted from some weaved textiles… storyline is not the usual kind of action-pack killing bloody scenes. With cast like Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman, definitely not a show to be missed. One of the rare shows which I think has a brilliant ending. Watch it!

“What the fuck have you been doing lately. This is me, taking back control of my life.” - Does it make sense to you? If it does, better move your butt and do something about it.

Hancock

July 2, 2008 – 11:20 pm | No Comments »

Went to watch Hancock today, it’s at S$8 and I think it’s super worth the price!

Hancock

hancock-poster.jpg

Plot: 9/10
Cast: 9/10
Graphics: 7/10
Action: 8/10

Summary: The plot is interesting, something new though some parts of it were not well explained, but if u’re smart, u’ll get it heee. The cast was great with Will Smith and Charlize Theron, doesn’t matter if you are a guy or a lady, u’ll love it =D Action wise, erm… not a lot but I think there’s a well balance between the emo part and the action part =) I won’t reveal too much here, but I guarantee you it’s a good show to catch even at S$9.50. Go for it~ hahaha

The “Un”Happening

June 24, 2008 – 12:14 am | 1 Comment »

Went to watch The Happening alone over the weekend. The show appeared to be totally opposite from its title, it is not happening at all. I have to say that the trailer looks much better than the entire movie.

The Happening

the-happening.jpg

Plot: 6/10
Cast: 3/10
Graphics: 5/10
Action: 3/10

Summary: Not as good as I had expected. The plot is plain normal and the ending doesn’t make much sense. I won’t watch it even at weekday’s price.

Best Friend’s Wedding Dinner

June 22, 2008 – 9:23 pm | No Comments »

15 June 2008 is Shengwang’s big day, as such, his brothers including Jia, Zhiwen, Xincai, James and me had succumbed to be his slave for this very special day hahaha =D

It started off like this… the Spartan Warriors!!!

all-ready.jpg

The 1st task was targeted at Mr Soon. He had to shout “I love you” in several languages before those kind peepz on the 13th floor allowed us to go up.

1st-test.jpg

The 2nd task involved the Spartan Warriors. 300 push ups to be done by 6 Spartan Warriors? Absolutely no kick~~~ wahahahaha

 2nd-test.jpg

The 3rd task was slightly tuffer. To drink from a 1.5 litre bottle with a few straws that were loosely linked together… anyhow, we tried…

 3rd-test-1.jpg

and we tried… along the way, a few ml of fruit ade was spilled as we “explored” ways to finish the drink faster hahaha

3rd-test-2.jpg

After drinking fruit ade, the most terrifying task was announced to us… totally inhumane… we were really contemplating to demand another ang bao from SW for helping him with this task…

look at our terrified faces…

 4th-test-1.jpg

 Lemon was the appetizer…

 4th-test-2.jpg

The flow of the food got jumbled up, and we got the desert right after the appetizer… some awful mixture of rose syrup, condensed milk and honey… jia and sw wanted to puke right after drinking them…. imagine its potency…

 4th-test-3.jpg

Bittergourd juice came right after the desert… seriously, even though it’s super bitter, it’s the easiest to bring it down the throat among the rest hahaha

4th-test-4.jpg

The last one was the killer… guess wad?

4th-test-5.jpg

Look what SW is holding in his hands… chilli padi… with wasabe on top… one each, no sharing~~ ultimate challenge for the Spartan Warriors!!!

4th-test-7.jpg

After the chilli padi, we were told to eat some breads to find the key to Jane’s room. Following that, we had to sing May Day’s Lian Ai-ING outside Jane’s room before tearing down the door to let SW into her room hahaha =P

5th-test.jpg

And finally…

Chiang Chiang~~~

Haven got enuff fotos to write about the Wedding Dinner itself, will post once I’ve got enuff resources. Meantime, stay tune =) Cheerios!!!

My New Laptop

June 22, 2008 – 8:38 pm | 2 Comments »

Just got a new laptop from the recent PC show - Acer Aspire 4920g. Was deciding between HP dv3000, Toshiba M200 and Acer 4920g. Out of the three, Acer has the best specs (but not the best freebies to go along with). Toshiba was giving away a 400+ Nikon camera and a HP printer with their M200!!!

acer4920g.jpg

Bought the laptop at ~S$1,500. It has an Intel processor Dual Core 2.2GHz, 4gb ram, 250gb hdd, ATI Radeon graphics card, built-in webcam and mic, 3 yrs warranty the rest are pretty standard. The appearance is not exactly fantastic but I am not very particular with looks when it comes to such gadgets, operational features are more important. One fall side about this laptop is its battery life, very pathetic. It can’t live more than 1.5 hours without electrical supply…

They offered either Office 2007 or 3 yrs warranty. I chose the 3 yrs warranty instead, having heard pretty nasty comments about Office 2007. Office 2003 works just fine for me.

Tada~~~ Welcome to my world, Acer darling hahaha

长篇大论

June 20, 2008 – 6:22 am | No Comments »

Wootz… what a heavy downpour… Didn’t feel like sleeping, ended up finishing the 40 episodes of 溏心风暴. In the past, whenever I tried to rush through drama series, I would have a 不舍得的感觉 after watching the last episode, but I din feel it this time. Might be because I was forwarding through most of the time =P

May 25, 2008 – 7:20 pm | 2 Comments »

For every individual, there’re definitely some form of activities, some places or some people that triggers their ideas, their passion, their drive or their emotions…

Was watching a taiwanese serial show, 这里发现爱 that’s showing on SCV during weekends. There’re a few parts to the story, and one of them talks about a writer who ran out of ideas and desperately searching for ways to get them back. In one of futile attempts, he became a taxi driver and tried to peek into his passengers’ lives… damn cool~~ I won’t mind doing that if it really helps =P

I believe that for many of us, there’ll be a point in life where ideas run dry, getting lost or dropping into depression. The question is - What do you do when you are in such situation? Do share your tot here, your “remedy” may also be the “remedy” of others =)
